Apple stock slips from 52-week high while outperforming over a year
Apple shares have retreated 8.7% from their July 29 peak at $344.57, though they remain above their 200-day and 50-day moving averages.
Apple Inc.'s shares have underperformed the S&P 500 in the most recent three months after the stock retreated 8.7% from its 52-week high of $344.57 set July 29, according to Yahoo Finance.
Over the past three months, Apple stock has gained 1.2%, compared with a 2.8% rise in the S&P 500 over the same period, while Apple is up 15.7% year to date and up 36.5% over the past 52 weeks, the outlet reported.
Yahoo Finance attributes Apple stock's longer-term strength to a resurgence in iPhone demand, accelerating Services revenue, and strong profitability, with the company also seeing an iPhone 17 cycle contribution alongside record Services revenue, higher average selling prices, and margin expansion.
The outlet also points to Apple shares rising 2.3% on Aug. 19 after the company unveiled changes to App Store terms for European developers, including replacing a Core Technology Fee with a simpler 5% commission on certain digital transactions.
