Dunkin to return to Puerto Rico in 2027 via new operator deal
The chain’s comeback will be led by Fusion Restaurant Group under an exclusive development and operating agreement, with the first Puerto Rico locations expected to open in 2027.
Dunkin is planning to return to Puerto Rico in 2027 after more than a decade away, with the expansion set to be carried out by a new partnership with Fusion Restaurant Group, according to Yahoo Finance.
Dunkin, the U.S. coffee and donut brand that operates more than 14,200 restaurants across nearly 40 global markets, said Fusion Restaurant Group will oversee its growth across the island and bring back menu items including coffee and iced beverages, donuts, and breakfast sandwiches.
The agreement gives Fusion Restaurant Group exclusive development and operating rights for Dunkin in Puerto Rico, and the first locations are expected to begin opening in 2027.
Dunkin previously operated on the island from 2001 until 2014, when its 18 locations were closed following termination of its franchise agreement with Wometco Donas Inc. Earlier in 2014, Dunkin filed a lawsuit alleging multiple claims, including breach of contract, and said it was owed approximately $196,000 in unpaid royalties and renewal.
