Ex-White House teleprompter operator fined over prediction market trading
The CFTC found that Gabriel Perez used advance access to Trump speech content to place bets on “presidential mention market” contracts and earned more than $107,500 before enforcement.
A former White House teleprompter operator, Gabriel Perez, has been fined for insider trading involving prediction market contracts, according to Decrypt.
The outlet reports that Perez used his access to Donald Trump speech material before it was delivered to trade on “presidential mention market” contracts, which track whether the president is expected to mention specific topics.
Decrypt says Perez profited more than $107,500 before the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, or CFTC, brought enforcement action.
