Fed Governor Barr says he would back a rate hike if inflation persists
Barr linked his stance to concerns that price pressures could broaden beyond the sectors currently driving inflation.
CNBC reports that Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller Barr said he would support a rate increase if inflation does not ease.
Barr said he is worried about broader price pressures taking hold, noting that inflation has remained above the Fed's 2% target.
The comments were framed around the outlook for whether current inflation trends will fade or extend into wider parts of the economy.
