Sony seeks arbitration in lawsuit over digital game ownership claims
Sony is asking the judge to move the California class action into arbitration over allegations tied to PlayStation “Buy Now” purchase flows.
Sony is contesting a California class action lawsuit accusing the PlayStation maker of violating consumer laws related to how digital games are sold online, according to Decrypt.
In court filings, Sony argued that digital games cannot be owned in the way the plaintiffs allege, and it said the claims should be resolved through arbitration rather than through the class action process.
The dispute centers on “Buy Now” buttons and the broader question of what customers are actually buying when they purchase digital games for PlayStation platforms, Decrypt reported.
