Cardano constitutional committee renewal clears thresholds by 0.18 points

A pre-boundary Koios snapshot showed DReps support at 69.36% and SPO support at 51.18%, with the margin on the stake-pool side narrowing the odds for renewal.

Cardano’s 2026 Constitutional Committee renewal cleared both voting thresholds in a pre-boundary on-chain snapshot captured Sept. 1, but the approval depended on a very small buffer on the stake-pool operator side. According to CryptoSlate, the chain tip was still in epoch 652 when the synchronized Koios voting snapshot was taken around 09:59 UTC, with ratification, enactment, or expiration not yet recorded on-chain at that moment.

In the snapshot, DRep support came in at 69.36% versus a 67% threshold, while SPO support was 51.18% against a 51% requirement, leaving a 0.18 percentage point margin. CryptoSlate reports that Cardano’s governance design can make non-participating SPO stake an effective veto through the effective calculation in the SPO denominator, even if those pools do not submit an explicit No.

CryptoSlate said the decision was scheduled for the boundary into epoch 653 at about 21:44 UTC on Sept. 1, using thresholds defined in Cardano’s epoch-652 protocol parameters. The stakes include four committee seats due to lapse, with the committee needing at least five active members, and expiration of those seats beginning when epoch 654 starts on Sept. 6.

If the renewal is ratified at the epoch-653 boundary, CryptoSlate reports it is set to enact one epoch later at the start of epoch 654; without ratification, the committee would drop to three active members, below the minimum required.
