Dow closes below its 50-day moving average after 5,000-point drop
The index last closed under its 50-day moving average on April 10, following a correction that reached a low with a roughly 5,000-point decline.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed below its 50-day moving average for the last time on April 10, a technical level that had marked the transition out of a prior correction phase, according to MarketWatch.
MarketWatch said the correction included a drop of about 5,000 points at its low point, with April 10 marking the end of that correction period as the index moved beneath the 50-day line.
