Wall Street ends mixed as US-Iran tensions offset AI optimism

Oil prices and 10-year Treasury yields both pulled back Wednesday after Tuesday's surge, while ADP showed August private-sector jobs growth slowed to 38,000.

Wall Street traded mixed on Wednesday as investors weighed renewed US-Iran clashes against signs of strength in the AI trade, according to LiveMint Markets.

At the open, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 62.7 points, or 0.12%, to 52,829.58, while the S&P 500 gained 3.1 points, or 0.04%, to 7,634.58. The Nasdaq Composite slipped 5.8 points, or 0.02%, to 26,094.004.

After Tuesday's surge, oil prices pulled back and 10-year US Treasury yields also retreated, reflecting shifting expectations tied to the geopolitical backdrop.

Investors also monitored labor data ahead of official employment numbers due Friday, with ADP reporting private-sector jobs growth of 38,000 in August, down from the previous month and below analysts' expectations. LiveMint Markets noted the ADP figures are closely watched even though reports can diverge.
