Williams says US yields rose on stronger economic prospects
The New York Fed official said he is not giving guidance on whether policymakers need to hike rates despite the yield jump.
New York Fed policymaker John C. Williams said a recent surge in US Treasury yields reflects improving economic prospects, according to CNBC’s interview coverage.
In the remarks, Williams did not indicate whether he believes an interest rate hike is necessary, leaving the decision framework open even as yields moved higher.
