Xi arrives in Egypt as China readies deals before White House summit

SCMP Economy says Xi is expected to sign economic agreements with Egypt's President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Wednesday ahead of a likely White House meeting.

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Egypt on Tuesday, with the trip serving as a second stop in a busy month of travel that could culminate in a White House meeting, according to SCMP Economy.

On arrival at Cairo International Airport, Xi said, “Once you drink from the Nile, you are destined to return,” SCMP Economy reported.

SCMP Economy said Xi is expected to sign economic agreements with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Wednesday as part of the trip.
