Crypto groups urge SEC to tailor rules for novel exchange-traded funds
The groups asked the SEC to preserve current fund classifications and streamline its review process for new ETF proposals.
Crypto industry groups are pressing the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to adopt rules that better fit new types of exchange-traded products tied to digital assets, according to Decrypt.
In a letter to the SEC, the groups argued the regulator should maintain existing fund classifications while also streamlining how it reviews new ETF applications, the outlet reported.
The signatories include The Crypto Council for Innovation, Grayscale, and a16z, Decrypt said, as they called for a clearer and faster pathway for novel ETF structures.
The push centers on balancing regulatory consistency with smoother approvals for exchange-traded products, as the groups warned that overly generic approaches could disrupt how crypto-related funds are categorized and assessed.
