Dell shares surge after record Q2 results and raised sales forecast
Dell posted $47 billion in second-quarter revenue, and raised its fiscal 2027 AI-optimized server revenue outlook to $74 billion from $60 billion.
Dell Technologies shares jumped 14% in intraday trading on Wednesday, September 2, after the company reported record results for its second fiscal quarter, with revenue rising 58% to $47 billion.
According to LiveMint Markets, the figure surpassed Wall Street's $44.92 billion estimate, and Dell reported profit excluding certain items of $7.04 per share, up from $2.30 a year earlier. Dell also said revenue growth was broad-based, with its Infrastructure Solutions Group revenue up 89% to $16.4 billion, and sales from traditional servers and networking rising to $10.5 billion.
LiveMint Markets also reported that Dell raised its annual sales forecast, pointing to accelerating demand for servers used for artificial intelligence workloads. The company said customers are upgrading infrastructure as AI application buildouts and data center investments ramp, including for machines equipped with Nvidia AI chips and renewed CPU-based server demand tied to managing AI agents.
Dell’s outlook called for fiscal 2027 revenue from AI-optimized servers to reach $74 billion, up from $60 billion. Management also highlighted record revenue, record earnings per share, and $4.3 billion returned to shareholders during the quarter.
