India markets set to trade through Janmashtami holiday

The next scheduled exchange closure for NSE and BSE comes on September 14, 2026 for Ganesh Chaturthi.

India’s equity and equity derivatives markets are scheduled to stay open on Friday, September 3, 2026, despite the Janmashtami festival, according to the 2026 stock market holiday calendar.

The calendar shows no scheduled trading holidays in September for the BSE and NSE equity segments, meaning investors can trade stocks and derivatives during regular market hours without changes to the existing schedule.

The report also notes that trading on the MCX in agricultural and non-agricultural commodities is set to operate as usual on August 28, with both morning and evening sessions running as normal.

In the latest market snapshot referenced by LiveMint Markets, the BSE Sensex was up 334.16 points, or 0.4 percent, to 76,904.51 in morning trade, while the NSE Nifty rose 95.45 points to 24,009.90.
