Revolut secures conditional OCC approval to become a US bank

The conditional nod would allow Revolut to move toward offering products that span loans, stablecoins, and credit cards.

Revolut said it received conditional approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency as it seeks to become a bank in the United States, a step the company described as foundational to expanding its direct banking offerings.

According to a statement cited by The Block, the approval is aimed at enabling Revolut to provide banking products to customers, including loans, stablecoins, and credit cards.

The Block also noted that Revolut has previously obtained bank licenses in France, Australia, and the UK, and that the OCC has been issuing more conditional approvals to crypto and technology firms pursuing U.S. bank charters.

The outlet added that, since 2025, the OCC has received 40 de novo charter applications and approved 21, while denying two, and that similar conditional approvals have been granted to firms including Coinbase and Circle within that timeframe.
