Hanwha builds tokenized securities platform on Avalanche ahead of Korea rules
South Korea’s updated tokenized securities framework takes effect Feb. 4, 2027, and the regulator plans a phased rollout that includes money market funds, bonds, and fractional securities.
South Korea’s Hanwha Investment & Securities has completed development of a tokenized securities platform built on Avalanche, The Block reported, citing a local news account.
The platform, reportedly started in 2025 with blockchain technology firm FairSquare Lab, was designed to run on multiple networks including Avalanche and Hyperledger Besu.
The move comes ahead of South Korea amendments that officially integrate tokenized securities into the existing financial system, scheduled to take effect Feb. 4, 2027.
According to The Block, South Korea’s Financial Services Commission outlined a three-stage implementation roadmap that begins by allowing tokenization of privately placed money market funds and bonds, unlisted stocks via a trust wrapper, and fractional investment securities, with the long-term goal of expanding to publicly offered securities and potentially using stablecoins for settlement.
