Hunter Biden plans to launch LAPTOP memecoin on Base

The one billion token supply will include 30% for founders and 20% for two airdrops, with the first eligible group being wallets that lost money on Trump’s TRUMP token.

Hunter Biden plans to launch the LAPTOP memecoin on Coinbase’s Base network on Wednesday, with a total supply of one billion tokens, according to CoinDesk. The project allocates 30% of the supply to founders, with that portion locked for six months and released over more than two years, while another 20% is set aside for two airdrops.

CoinDesk reports that the first airdrop will be directed to wallets that previously held the TRUMP memecoin and lost money on it, with additional distribution going to Biden’s Substack subscribers and to a mailing list associated with video journalist Andrew Callaghan.

In response to backlash from crypto traders, CoinDesk says Kraken deleted a promotional post for the token. The outlet also reports that Callaghan and a Coinbase Base executive publicly distanced Base from the launch.

CoinDesk adds that Base leaders said anyone can deploy a token on the network without Coinbase approval and that there is no partnership between LAPTOP and Coinbase or Base, noting that Base chose not to support the token’s design or promotion because politics make it complicated.
