Small business optimism falls in August, but stays near long-run levels
The NFIB Uncertainty Index eased 2 points to 89 in August, remaining notably above historical norms.
The NFIB Small Business Optimism Index declined by 1.1 points to 98.7 in August, according to Action Forex.
Despite the drop, the index remained above its 52-year historical average of 98.0, while the Uncertainty Index fell by 2 points to 89.
Action Forex also reports that six of the ten NFIB subcomponents declined over the month, while two improved and two were unchanged.
The outlet notes that uncertainty levels were still notably elevated compared with historical norms.
