Soap entrepreneur Jhalesa Seymour grows Salt.xo to over $16 million sales
Seymour launched Salt.xo in 2018 while at the University of Central Florida, starting with $67 and building a business she says avoided lifestyle spending.
Jhalesa Seymour, founder of the soap brand Salt.xo, says she started the company while still in college with just $67 and has since grown it to more than $16 million in sales, according to a feature by Yahoo Finance.
Seymour launched Salt.xo in 2018 at the University of Central Florida, saying the business idea came from her own difficulty finding feminine-care products she felt would not disrupt her pH balance, and she later developed what she calls an alternative after encountering products with irritating ingredients.
She also highlighted a money rule she says helped her scale without overspending, noting that she treated business money as separate from personal lifestyle money, even after becoming a multimillionaire.
The article cites U.S. Small Business Administration data that 80% of employer businesses use personal savings as startup capital and that nearly half start with more than $25,000, and it points to Bureau of Labor Statistics figures showing that 57.3% of business establishments launched in 2018 survived, the same year Salt.xo began.
