White House removes Tetris-style game from online arcade

The Tetris Company said it was not involved and was reviewing the matter after the White House pulled the game within days of its copyright warning.

The White House removed a Tetris-style online game, Build the Wall, from its new arcade, according to a report by SCMP Economy and Agence France-Presse. The block-stacking game, subtitled Zombie Border Siege, told players to “protect the border from the coming horde,” and it was no longer available on the website on Tuesday.

The removal came four days after The Tetris Company warned that it takes copyright infringement seriously. In a statement, the Tetris Company said it was not involved in the creation of Build the Wall and did not authorize or license the Tetris brand or intellectual property for the game.

When asked whether it was weighing legal action, the company said it was currently reviewing the matter. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for why the game was taken down.

On social media, The Tetris Company said it believes in bringing people together rather than dividing them.
