AMD bull case argues AI momentum could help it beat Nvidia

The analysis points to a sharp rise in AMD-related AI revenue, from $13 billion in Q2 three years ago to $96 billion in the most recently reported Q2.

Yahoo Finance, via The Motley Fool, frames AMD’s AI progress as the basis for a three-year bull case against Nvidia, arguing the market beyond Nvidia is expanding as AI chip demand grows. The piece highlights Nvidia’s early lead in tailoring GPUs for AI and notes investor demand has helped drive Nvidia’s stock performance.

The analysis says AMD has strengthened across both traditional processors and AI chips, citing a ramp in AI-related revenue figures over time. It states that in the second quarter three years ago revenue was $13 billion, and in the most recently completed second quarter it reached $96 billion.

It also points to AMD’s data center push, saying the company stepped up its AI ambitions about three years ago with the next-generation Instinct MI300 data center GPU family. The article further describes AMD’s Helios platform as a rackscale infrastructure system launched this year, designed to deliver more compute and memory capacity than Nvidia’s Vera Rubin NVL72 rack, according to AMD.
