GBP/JPY slips near weekly lows as downtrend persists

The cross trades around 208.05, with support seen at 208.00 before the year low of 207.10 is exposed.

GBP/JPY is falling for the third straight day and remains near this week’s lows, with buyers appearing but not strong enough to push the pair back above Wednesday’s opening level, according to FXStreet.

The cross was last around 208.05, down 0.22%, after reaching the lowest point of the year at 207.10 on September 8, leaving the pair downward-biased, the outlet said.

FXStreet identified 208.00 as the first support level, warning that a break could bring the YTD low of 207.10 into focus. Further downside targets include 206.78 (the December 16, 2025 low), then 206.50 and 206.00.

On the technical outlook, the outlet said the Relative Strength Index has turned oversold, but GBP/JPY is likely to stay pressured unless RSI clears the 30 level. A bullish reversal, it added, would require reclaiming 209.08, which could open the door to 210.00 and then the 200-day simple moving average near 213.09.
