India issues notices to block 15 crypto apps for non-compliance

The Financial Intelligence Unit said it issued non-compliance notices under India’s anti money laundering law and also sought takedowns of apps and URLs, though the release does not confirm account or withdrawal freezes.

India’s Financial Intelligence Unit, FIU-IND, issued non-compliance notices to 15 crypto service providers and separately sought takedowns of their apps and URLs from public access in India, according to CryptoSlate.

The Sept. 9 announcement said the named services were operating without meeting requirements under India’s Prevention of Money Laundering Act, and it cited separate action under India’s information technology law and intermediary rules.

FIU-IND named both consumer-facing brands and their associated entities, including Weex, Blofin, Rezorex, Bitunix, DigiFinex, Toobit, XT.com, Latoken, WOO X, Pionex, ChangeNow, SimpleSwap, Fixedfloat, WhiteBIT and Guardarian.

The release highlights a practical risk of losing public app and website access, but it also does not state that every service is already blocked or that customer accounts, balances, or withdrawals have been frozen, and it provides no common remediation deadline or platform-specific guidance for existing Indian users.
