Pump.fun adds trading pairs that let memecoins quote tokenized stocks
The feature, launched Sept. 9, expands beyond SOL and stablecoins, and memecoin pairs tied to tokenized stock activity generated $217 million in trading volume on Sept. 2.
CryptoSlate reports that Pump.fun rolled out a Custom Pairs feature on Sept. 9, allowing new memecoins to trade against tokenized stocks, major crypto assets, and other quote assets, broadening the settlement menu beyond SOL and stablecoins.
The mechanism means that when a meme trades against a tokenized stock, traders must acquire or supply the corresponding stock token to enter the market. CryptoSlate says the goal is to turn initial retail-driven speculation into on-chain inventory that can later be used for other crypto market functions like lending and managed vaults, though the broader adoption link remains unproven.
CryptoSlate also points to earlier activity on Robinhood Chain, where memecoin pairs using tokenized stock tokens generated $217 million in trading volume on Sept. 2. The article notes that volume shows activity but does not yet confirm persistence or whether the token inventory migrates into deeper financial products.
Separately, Raydium announced on Sept. 6 a newly issued token meant to pair with any supported quote token, naming LaunchOnSF as its first integration. CryptoSlate frames these changes as steps toward making custom quote assets a category feature in tokenized-stock trading workflows.
