U.S. Bank completes live cross-border payment with USBDC on Stellar
The pilot tested USBDC minting, redemption, freezing, and clawback, and validated the bank’s digital asset platform connecting tokenized assets to its banking systems.
U.S. Bank has completed a live cross-border payment using its proprietary USBDC stablecoin on the public Stellar blockchain, moving funds between the bank’s North American and European entities, according to Cointelegraph.
The pilot validated USBDC issued and transferred on Stellar, and it also tested operational controls including minting, redemption, freezing, and clawback, while integrating with U.S. Bank’s existing risk, compliance, and operations systems.
Cointelegraph reports the transaction also served as a real-world test of U.S. Bank’s internally developed Digital Asset Platform, which connects tokenized assets with its traditional banking infrastructure.
The bank said it is exploring additional uses for the stablecoin, including cross-border treasury operations, liquidity management, and moving collateral onchain, and Cointelegraph notes the work builds on U.S. Bank’s broader digital asset push.
