VOO tops $1T in assets as 2026 inflows near record pace

Roughly $28 billion flowed into VOO in August, lifting total 2026 inflows to $100 billion, while the S&P 500-tracking ETF is up 12% for the year.

ETF Trends reports that TMX VettaFi Head of Research Todd Rosenbluth said the Vanguard 500 Index Fund ETF share class, VOO, has reached a $1 trillion asset level and is pacing for record inflows in 2026. Rosenbluth said VOO, which trades under the ticker VOO and launched in 2010 as an ETF version of the 50-year-old Vanguard 500 Index Fund, has attracted $100 billion in net inflows so far in 2026. He added that August alone brought $28 billion in new money, with $105 billion in total for the year at the time of the discussion. He noted that concerns about market concentration have not derailed performance, saying the S&P 500-tracking fund is up 12% for the year after gaining ground in August. Rosenbluth also cited peers SPYM and IVV as having gathered assets well in 2026.

Rosenbluth highlighted that, alongside traditional index products, newer smart beta and low-cost actively managed ETF strategies have gained momentum. He pointed to the VictoryShares Free Cash Flow ETF (VFLO), which he said manages $11 billion, and discussed broader ETF inflows nearing the 2025 record of $1.5 trillion, with $1.4 trillion gathered so far this year.
