Fed officials are set to speak this week after rate-hike decision
The week’s packed Fed calendar starts after the officials leave their blackout period, with New York Fed President John Williams scheduled Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Redfin News said this week’s economic calendar is light, leaving markets to digest last week’s hawkish Fed meeting and watch for any geopolitical developments tied to UN General Assembly events in New York.
According to Redfin News, the FOMC projected one more hike this year, while expectations for the Fed have shifted sharply, moving from early-year cuts to expectations for two hikes or more as recent economic data have reduced the odds of later cuts.
Redfin News also cited the median FOMC participant projection for core PCE inflation of 3.4% at the end of 2026, alongside a note that revisions to PCE methodology by the Bureau of Economic Analysis are expected, which the outlet said could leave room for the committee to adjust its expected path.
The outlet added that Fed officials are now back from their blackout period, with New York Fed President John Williams holding three events Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack scheduled to speak Thursday, while Friday’s durable goods report is expected to offer more insight into third-quarter GDP momentum, with estimates around 3.5% to 5%.
