OECD lifts UK growth outlook as it cuts inflation forecast

The OECD expects UK economic growth of 1.1% for 2026, up from 0.9% forecast in June.

The OECD says the UK economic outlook has improved, citing lower than expected inflation and new government support measures that it expects will help lift growth.

In its updated forecasts, the think tank cut its inflation projection for this year from 3.7% to 3.1% after prices rose less than anticipated, and it raised its UK growth forecast for 2026 to 1.1% from 0.9% previously in June.

The OECD said growth will be supported by consumption backed by the newly announced government support measures, adding that the UK has shown resilience despite conflicts in the Middle East and Europe.
