AllianceBernstein promotes Julie Gunts to head of active ETFs
The promotion comes as active ETF assets surged in 2026, with active ETFs pulling in $520 billion year to date through August, and AllianceBernstein’s ETF suite adding $16 billion total assets.
AllianceBernstein has promoted Julie Gunts to senior vice president, global head of ETFs, placing her in charge of the asset manager’s expanding active ETF franchise, ETF Trends reports. Gunts brings more than 13 years of leadership experience at AllianceBernstein, after roles in fixed income strategy and research. She previously stepped in as global head of ETF Strategy and Partnerships in September 2022.
Gunts replaces Noel Archard in the most senior ETF position, with Archard moving to global head of product solutions and marketing earlier this year. ETF Trends also reports that Casey Hatch will replace Gunts as global head of ETF strategy and partnerships, moving over from a broader product strategy and business development role.
The leadership change lands amid strong advisor demand for active ETFs in 2026, driven by wealth managers seeking real-time flexibility and tax efficiency versus traditional open-end mutual funds. According to ETF Trends, active ETFs gathered $520 billion year to date through August, equal to 35% of assets, while AllianceBernstein’s ETF suite reached $16 billion in total assets supported by $5.5 billion in net year-to-date inflows.
With Gunts now steering global growth, ETF Trends says investors are watching how AllianceBernstein will package its institutional research capabilities into additional active ETF offerings. The asset manager is described as having a legacy of active management through mutual funds and other instruments, some of which have been translated into ETFs.
