Circle launches 24/7 stablecoin FX settlement on Arc with StableFX

The service lets approved businesses request competing quotes from multiple liquidity providers and settle both stablecoin trade legs simultaneously on a payment-versus-payment basis.

Circle has turned on 24-hour stablecoin foreign-exchange settlement on its Arc blockchain through a new service called StableFX, targeting a global FX market that moves nearly $10 trillion daily, according to CryptoSlate.

StableFX is designed to extend institutional FX activity beyond banking hours by supporting near-instant settlement or deferred completion to an agreed settlement window. Circle said the system keeps trade execution off-chain before counterparties fund a smart-contract escrow on Arc.

Under the request-for-quote flow, screened businesses submit a currency pair, amount, and preferred settlement window, while approved liquidity providers compete to quote the trade. Settlement occurs on a payment-versus-payment basis, so both stablecoin legs transfer together, or neither does, with the goal of reducing settlement risk.

Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire described StableFX as an “emerging primitive” for atomically settled, real-time onchain FX, and noted the launch comes shortly after Arc went to mainnet on Sept. 16. Circle’s developer documentation currently references USDC and euro-denominated EURC, and it says more local stablecoin pairs will be added, though access remains restricted to eligible incorporated businesses.
