Neutron DAO proposal passes as Astroport and Drop losses total $9.3M

SlowMist estimated $4.9 million lost at Astroport and $4.4 million at Drop after Sept. 22, while Neutron voters approved a governance action that can change contract administrator control.

Neutron DAO voters passed proposal #9 on Sept. 22, listing 11 “Update Admin” actions on the chain explorer, with the proposal titled “AIATO: AI Agent Takeover. Phase 1: Agent Admin Registration.” CryptoSlate reports that Neutron governance documentation describes the DAO as the network’s highest governing authority, including the power to execute messages through governance, which can change control of a contract’s administrator.

That same day, security tracker SlowMist recorded estimated losses of $4.9 million at Astroport and $4.4 million at Drop, for a combined estimate of $9.3 million tied to the reported incidents. CryptoSlate notes that the final unrecovered amount is not settled, because recovery depends on which assets were contained by the network and which ultimately left defenders’ reach.

CryptoSlate further reports that Protos said on Sept. 23 that the network halted most of the initially affected assets, and that the attacker had extracted around one-fifth by the time of that report. A network halt can contain assets without returning them to users, leaving the amount affected users can ultimately recover as an unresolved question.
