Viasat puts ViaSat-3 F2 satellite into service across the Americas
The satellite is designed to deliver more than one terabit per second of capacity, expanding the company’s bandwidth availability after heavy capital spending.
Viasat said ViaSat-3 F2 entered service across the Americas on September 17, 2026, completing the three-satellite ViaSat-3 constellation.
The company said the satellite is designed to deliver more than one terabit per second of capacity and that the completed deployment has tripled bandwidth available across the global fleet, after F3’s service entry in Asia-Pacific in August.
Viasat frames the move as a way to generate more sellable capacity, using beamforming technology to direct bandwidth toward higher-demand areas such as busy flight routes, shipping lanes, and other concentrated demand, including aviation, maritime, government, and broadband markets.
In fiscal Q1 2027 ended June 30, 2026, Viasat generated $260.6 million of operating cash flow, but after $218.9 million of capital expenditures free cash flow fell about 31% to $41.6 million from $60.4 million a year earlier. Excluding $30 million of cash taxes tied to the Navarino investment sale, free cash flow was about $72 million, up 19%, and the company noted that F2’s service entry came after those comparisons.
