Xi Jinping arrives at Joint Base Andrews for US summit with Trump
Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived at Joint Base Andrews late Wednesday afternoon after a 15-hour flight, setting the stage for a high-stakes summit in the United States, his first in 11 years.
The visit comes as the US and China extended a trade truce, with Xi met on the tarmac by US President Donald Trump in an unusual move for a top American leader.
Xi traveled to Washington with his first lady, Peng Liyuan, and senior Chinese officials Cai Qi and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, among other dignitaries, who were received with a modest arrival ceremony, according to the SCMP Economy.
