Astoria developers file plans for 402-unit waterfront housing tower
The 20-story proposal would replace three industrial buildings at 31-29 Vernon Boulevard and include 100 affordable units tied to the city’s Mandatory Inclusionary Housing requirements.
Commercial Observer reports that Astoria developers Dominick Acquista and Lorenzo Devardo, through Across the River Realty Development, filed plans to build a 20-story residential tower with 402 housing units at 31-29 Vernon Boulevard in Queens.
The filing seeks a zoning change and a text amendment with the New York City Planning Commission, aiming to allow construction above existing height restrictions at the waterfront site near Socrates Sculpture Park and the East River.
About 100 of the proposed units would be affordable apartments under the city’s Mandatory Inclusionary Housing requirements for households earning 60 percent of the area median income, according to the proposal described by Commercial Observer.
The project would also include 10,108 square feet of commercial space and 3,069 square feet of community facility space, with the developers listing parking as part of the overall plan, Commercial Observer said.
