Ex-CFTC commissioner Summer Mersinger to leave Blockchain Association

The Blockchain Association said her departure will follow a failed congressional vote on its CLARITY legislative priority, with CEO leadership shifting on Oct. 16.

Cointelegraph reports that former US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Commissioner Summer Mersinger will step down as CEO of the Blockchain Association and leave the advocacy group at year end.

The Blockchain Association said Mersinger will exit on Oct. 16, when its former chief executive, Kristin Smith, will return as interim CEO, according to Cointelegraph.

Cointelegraph adds that the move comes after one of the group’s legislative priorities, its CLARITY effort, failed to advance in Congress.
