General Mills posts lackluster Q1 results as it targets a turnaround inflection

The company forecast that turnaround efforts could lift organic growth to positive levels by year end, after yogurt divestiture weighed on results.

General Mills said its fiscal 2027 first-quarter results were lackluster, while positioning its turnaround as nearing an inflection point, according to MarketBeat Ratings. The outlet noted that the comparison was also complicated by a significant divestiture included in the period.

MarketBeat Ratings highlighted that the yogurt business drove weakness in North America Retail, where sales contracted by 7%, with 400 basis points attributed to yogurt. It added that North America Pet results were flat, while North America Foodservice expanded, and companywide organic sales were flat with yogurt needing to drop out of the math for growth to return.

Looking ahead, General Mills reiterated optimism that the inflection could shift to positive organic growth by year end, the outlet said. It also flagged dividend headwinds while describing the dividend as appearing reliable.
