OpenAI is quietly testing a new ChatGPT subscription tier, dubbed Pro Max, that would cost $500 per month, according to Decrypt. Leaked code references and screenshots that surfaced this week point to a tier far above existing paid plans.

The $500 figure would represent 25 times the price of ChatGPT Plus, which costs $20, and it is also above OpenAI’s previously launched $200 Pro tier that rolled out in December 2024, Decrypt reported. The outlet said multiple leak trackers and researchers spotted the changes, with the price later confirmed by screenshots showing the tier in ChatGPT’s interface.

Decrypt added that while it is not confirmed whether the interface element is a leak or a render, independent sightings, including a Reddit thread, matched the same $500 monthly price tag. The story also notes that the tier appears aimed at users who need the bot to work faster, rather than simply allowing for longer usage.
