AUD net shorts climb to highest since December 2025
The Australian dollar has slipped 3.2% against the US dollar this month, falling to about 0.70.
Rabobank said AUD net short positions have risen for a second straight week, reaching the highest level since December 2025, according to FXStreet.
FXStreet also noted that while the Australian dollar is the second-best performing G10 currency year-to-date, it has weakened against the dollar this month, down 3.23% to around 0.70 from recent highs near 0.72.
At the start of the week, FXStreet said AUD/USD was defending the 0.7000 level, trading near its lowest level since August 4 amid a broadly bullish US dollar, with US yields holding near multi-year highs.
FXStreet added that safe-haven demand for the dollar and expectations around an October Fed rate hike, alongside Tuesday’s RBA policy announcements, were cited as factors weighing on the pair.
