Hong Kong arrests visa-abusing tourists for unlicensed one-stop services
Immigration officials said the suspects were accused of charging several hundred Hong Kong dollars per day for cosmetic, photography and tour guide services while breaching their visa conditions.
Hong Kong immigration authorities have arrested four women, aged 20 to 31, as part of a crackdown on tourists they say abused their visas to run unlicensed one-stop shops offering cosmetic, photography and tour guide services, according to SCMP Economy.
A task force commander with the Immigration Department, Li Kwing-chiu, said the suspects were accused of breaching their conditions of stay by operating services that charged several hundred Hong Kong dollars a day, the outlet reported.
Li warned visitors and residents to be cautious when using social media to buy services and to avoid purchasing from unknown sources, saying doing so out of convenience could violate the law, SCMP Economy added.
