75% of US banks have blockchain programs underway, Uphold survey finds

The survey also says two-thirds of banks have allocated funds and 54% have issued RFPs for digital asset vendors and partners.

A survey released by Uphold, an infrastructure provider for on-chain finance, found that 75% of American banks have blockchain finance programmes underway. Of those, 22% have projects that are live or scaling, while an additional 53% are piloting or assessing specific use cases.

The research said three quarters of US banks confirm digital asset programmes, with digital asset wallets, custody, and buy/sell/hold tools for wealth management identified as key use cases. It also reported that 54% of banks have issued RFPs for digital asset vendors and partners, and two-thirds have allocated funds.

Uphold’s survey highlighted barriers to adoption, including cybersecurity concerns, risk management issues, and regulatory uncertainty or compliance challenges.

The study’s findings indicate that both large and regional banks have begun processes for buying digital asset services, underscoring growing operational exploration of blockchain finance in banking.
