Australian dollar rises after RBA delivers 25 bps rate hike

AUD/USD was trading near 0.7020 during Tuesday’s Asian session after the RBA lifted the Official Cash Rate to 4.60% from 4.35%.

FXStreet reports that AUD/USD recovered from prior daily losses and traded around 0.7020 during Tuesday’s Asian session.

The pair found support after the Reserve Bank of Australia raised the Official Cash Rate by 25 basis points to 4.60% from 4.35% at its September policy meeting, a decision that matched market expectations.

FXStreet also linked broader currency pressure to US Dollar strength, citing elevated oil prices tied to uncertainty around US-Iran negotiations and rising concerns about inflation.

The report said higher expectations for further US tightening coincided with US Treasury yields hitting fresh multi-year highs, with the CME FedWatch Tool showing about a 70% probability of another Fed rate hike in October.
