Canadian crypto personality Pleterski faces fraud trial next week

Pleterski is accused of defrauding followers out of about $30 million between 2021 and 2022, with charges filed in Canada more than two years ago.

Aiden Pleterski, a Canadian social media personality described as a “crypto king,” is set to appear for his criminal fraud trial in Ontario’s Superior Court of Justice next week, according to Cointelegraph.

Authorities allege Pleterski ran a crypto Ponzi scheme between 2021 and 2022, which prosecutors say included kidnapping and led to criminal charges that were brought more than two years ago.

Cointelegraph reports that the trial is scheduled to begin on Oct. 5, after Canadian authorities charged Pleterski in May 2024 with money laundering and fraud.

The outlet says Pleterski allegedly solicited investments and made false claims tied to large profits in digital assets, with prosecutors estimating the alleged investor losses at about $30 million.
