Coinbase gets CFTC approval for an in-house derivatives clearinghouse

The clearinghouse is limited to fully collateralized contracts, while Coinbase will continue using outside partners for margined futures and planned single-stock perpetuals.

Coinbase has received approval from the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission for its in-house derivatives clearinghouse, The Defiant reports.

According to The Defiant, the new clearinghouse is designed to process fully collateralized contracts.

The outlet adds that Coinbase will still rely on outside partners for margined futures and for planned single-stock perpetual products.
