Kazimir says ECB rate hike was unavoidable, eyes January repricing
He added that energy prices remain a key driver of inflation pressures, and EUR/USD was down 0.2% near 1.1345 after the comments.
European trading session comments from ECB Governing Council member and National Bank of Slovakia governor Peter Kazimir highlighted support for the ECBs earlier interest rate hike, saying it was unavoidable, according to FXStreet.
Kazimir also said energy prices remain a key factor behind higher inflation pressures, and he pointed to January repricing as the key focus going forward, adding that policymakers need flexibility.
FXStreet reported that EUR/USD came under pressure after the remarks, with the euro weaker by 0.2% to around 1.1345, as the move was attributed to further US dollar strength.
