Soho House Shoreditch investigated over alleged food safety issues
Hackney Council is probing food safety and hygiene at the Shoreditch location after concerns were raised about rats and allegedly out-of-date food.
A Soho House venue in Shoreditch is under investigation by Hackney Council after a former staff member raised concerns about food safety and hygiene, including allegations of rats and out-of-date food being served.
According to BBC Business, the former staff member said he was pressured to re-label prepared food if it was not sold by the end of the day, and that he regularly saw rats at the venue.
Soho House said the staff member’s termination two months after the first concerns were raised was unrelated to the complaints, adding that the food incident was isolated and that re-labelling unsold food was not company policy.
Hackney Council confirmed it is investigating food safety and hygiene at Soho House’s Shoreditch location, after the concerns were first raised informally in July and then formally filed.
