China launches air force support and training centre in Laos

The new China-Laos Joint Support and Training Centre and Aviation Academy are operating at Ban Keun Airport, jointly maintained by both sides.

China has launched an air force support and training centre in Laos, the country’s Ministry of Defence announced Tuesday, according to SCMP Economy.

The China-Laos Joint Support and Training Centre, along with the China-Laos Friendship Aviation Academy, is now operating at Ban Keun Airport, with the stated aim of helping the Laotian Air Force train its pilots.

The ministry said the two institutions will be jointly maintained and operated by both sides, and it did not provide details on what personnel or equipment would be based at the airport, or how many would be deployed.
