Study links mortgage fee transparency and education to better borrower outcomes

HousingWire reports the 2026 ServiceLink Loan Officer Report surveyed 507 U.S. loan officers and the 2026 ServiceLink State of Homebuying Report surveyed 1,554 U.S. residents who bought a home in the past two years.

HousingWire highlights new findings from the 2026 ServiceLink Loan Officer Report and the 2026 ServiceLink State of Homebuying Report, linking mortgage fee transparency and borrower education to lenders finding a competitive advantage in a market where products, rates, and services can feel increasingly similar.

The reports, HousingWire says, examine knowledge gaps that can create friction for borrowers at key points in the lending process, with the research aimed at helping loan officers support borrowers, reduce confusion, and improve outcomes throughout the homebuying journey.

HousingWire reports the Loan Officer Report surveyed 507 active loan officers across the U.S., while the State of Homebuying Report surveyed 1,554 U.S. residents who purchased a home in the past two years.
