US Case-Shiller 20-city index rises 2.5% year over year in July

The 20-city index increased 0.3% month over month, while the prior reading was 0.2%.

The S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller 20-city house price index rose 2.5% year over year in July, compared with 2.2% expected, according to Forexlive.

Forexlive said the index was up 0.3% month over month versus a 0.2% forecast, following a prior monthly increase of 0.2%.

The outlet also cited FHFA data showing national prices up 2.6% year over year versus 2.3% previously, and up 0.3% month over month versus 0.0% prior.

Forexlive added that while the housing market looked “surprisingly healthy,” home building and home improvement remain in a deep recession.
