OpenAI unveils always-on AI agents with their own computers at DevDay 2026

OpenAI used its DevDay 2026 event to introduce dots, a set of always-on AI agents that can run with their own computers, expanding beyond chat-style assistants, according to Decrypt.

The company also announced a cheaper GPT-6.1 Sol offering and a $500 speed tier, positioning faster and lower-cost options alongside the new agent approach, Decrypt reported.

Decrypt’s roundup framed the announcements as a mix of agent autonomy via always-on systems and new model and access tiers, with details aimed at a general audience.
