Pound rebounds against yen after UK growth upgrade

The GBP/JPY cross was last around 208.65, after earlier dipping to 206.89, the lowest since December 2025.

FXStreet reports the British pound strengthened broadly against major currencies Wednesday, lifting the GBP/JPY cross.

The newsletter attributed the rebound to an upward revision to UK economic growth.

GBP/JPY was trading near 208.65 after recovering from 206.89 earlier in Asian trading, which FXStreet said was the lowest since December 2025.

FXStreet also pointed to Japanese officials’ intervention warnings as a factor that may cap upside, even as the yen faced losses.
