Trump frontier AI accord shifts risk management to developers

The White House agreement, dubbed the Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities, calls for internal controls, independent external audits, and board level oversight.

A White House frontier AI agreement calls for technology companies to play a central role in managing the risks posed by increasingly capable AI systems, according to Cointelegraph.

The accord, titled “Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities,” places responsibility on developers to oversee safety and security, including steps such as internal controls, independent external audits, and board level oversight to help ensure models do not hack or access technical systems in unintended ways.

Cointelegraph reports the agreement comes as concerns grow about the safety of frontier AI and with President Trump resisting calls for a slowdown, citing competition with China.

The accord also leaves open the possibility of converting its commitments into law or regulation.
